Memorabilia for the 50th Anniversary
Celebrations of Arya Vir Dal in Guyana
In honour of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations the following items were created as tokens. They were all distributed free of cost during the celebrations to all students, delegates, visitors, well-wishers, friends etc. These items included the Souvenir Magazine, Souvenir Audio-CD (Vedo Ki Vaani - Songs in Honour of Arya Vir Dal), Souvenir T-Shirts, Kishtis, Angochas, Bags, Note-books and Pads, Pens, Folders, Flyers etc. International Delegates were also presented with the Official Tourist Guide of Guyana.



The Souvenir Magazine
A 32-page magazine was printed and published by the Guyana Central Arya Samaj in honour of the Celebrations. For about one year preceeding the celebrations persons were invited to submit articles and photos for the magazine. The layout and editing for the publication was done by Dr. Shailendra Sugrim and contains quite a bit of information on the Arya Vir Dal movement in Guyana. Apart from photos of Arya Vir Dal camps held over the past 50 years, the magazine also features: The History of Arya Vir Dal in India and Guyana, What is the Arya Vir Dal, List of the locations of the Vir Dal Camps over the past 50 years, Information on the 50th Celebrations and the 2nd Biennial Arya Samaj Conference. Feature articles printed included - Early Memories of Swami Veda Bharati (by Bahen Prea Naraine, Former Secretary of the Guyana Arya Vir Dal), The Arya Vir in the Modern World (by Pitaji Randal Butisingh of the Guyana Hindi Prachar Sabha), Talking to Teenagers (Submitted by Vedic Writer, Brigadier Chitranjan Sawant), A New Dawn of the Vedic Age: An Agenda for the Arya Youth (by Vedic Scholar, Dr. Harish Chandra) and a Shraddhanjali to the Late Minister Satyadeow Sawh. The magazine also contains messages from the Honourable President of Guyana, Shri Bharat Jagdeo and other international organisations. The Cover Design depicts various sorts of memorabilia of Arya Vir Dal over the past 50 years: old certificates, tattered photos, a kishti with AUM pin attached, saffron angocha and, in the foreground, a pair of military insignias that was usually pinned onto the shoulders of the Arya Vir Dal Military Uniform of the 1950s and 60s.

Vedo Ki Vaani - Songs in Honour of Arya Vir Dal
This Audio-CD, which contains 10 (ten) tracks was recorded by Dr. Ramesh Sugrim and the Port Mourant Arya Vir Dal in honour of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations. Recording and editing were done locally at the Vedo Ki Vaani Studios in Berbice. The songs included on the CD are: 1. Arya Vir Dal, 2. Oh Vir Chalo!, 3. Aryo Ka Vir Dal, 4. Dayanand Ke Vir Sainik Banenge, 5. Yaha Om Ka Jhandaa (Flag Hoisting Song), 6. Brahman Swaraasthra Me Ho (Flag Lowering Song), 7. Sakal Jagat Ko, 8. Pyara Hai Gurukul Apna, 9. Sing of Rishi Dayanand! and 10. Oh Guyana! Desho Mein Sartaj Ho (Patriotic Song). The Audio Cd was well received and appreciated. It was used throughout the entire week and was also the played during the Aryadeep Road Procession.

Angocha & Kishti
At the Opening Ceremony, all the students of the 50th Vir Dal Camp were invested with a specially made angocha (scarfs to be worn around the neck) and a kishti (white headwear). These were also shared to guests and well-wishers. The angocha carried the logo of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations and of Guyana Central Arya Samaj, along with the Arya Vir Dal Motto. They were printed and fabricated through a collaborative effort by the Guyana Central Arya Samaj and the Berbice Central Arya Samaj.



Souvenir T-Shirts
The front of these white T-shirts displayed an AUM sign in the centre of a sun printed in orange colour. The text printed: Asmaakam Veeraa Uttare Bhavantu - Let Our Noble Youths Take The Lead (top) and 50th Anniversary Celebrations of Arya Vir Dal in Guyana, Corriverton, Berbice, Guyana (bottom). These T-Shirts were printed courtesy of donations procured by the Arya Spiritual Centre of New York.


Souvenir Bags
These blue souvenir bags were distributed to all the camp students, parents, well-wishers, overseas delegates, needy children, conference delegates, senior citizens etc. It depicted the 50th Anniversary Logo surrounded by the Gayatri Mantra with other details of the celebrations. These bags, along with the pens, were printed courtesy of donations procured by the New Jersey Arya Samaj Mandir.




Shivir Booklet and Note-Books
Students of the 50th Annual Camp were supplied with special 50th Anniversary Notebooks accompanied by a Shivir Booklet. This booklet is a mini-handbook that contains information about the Arya Vir Dal, the objectives and purpose of the Arya Vir Dal, description of the symbols and slogans of the Arya Vir Dal, the common prayers and songs used during the camp and also the camp timetable of activities for the entire week.
