Major Activities of the Guyana Central Arya Samaj
Every year, in observance of Arya Samaj Sthaapna Divas (Foundation Day of Arya Samaj) the month of April is considered Arya Samaj Awareness Month in Guyana. Quite a few activities are held in all of the various regions across Guyana. During the first week of this month, the West Demerara Central Arya Samaj usually has an Annual Week of Veda Yajnas (at various temples in that region) which culminates on Arya Samaj Foundation Day (April 10th) in a Grand Veda Yajna and Annual Road Parade.
In the other regions, various Multi-Kunda Havans, Veda Yajnas and Flag Raising Ceremonies are organised to commemorate the events of the month. In some areas,
Feeding Programmes are held, along with Charitable Outreach to Orphans, Elderly,
Street Children and Disabled Children. Seminars and Lectures are also held at schools and campuses to enlighten the general public about the Arya Samaj Movement. Similarly, articles and information about Arya Samaj are printed in the National Newspapers along with weekly Television Programmes to raise the level of awareness of the general public about the Samaaj.
