Major Activities of the Guyana Central Arya Samaj

On the last Sunday in the month of April (Arya Samaj Awareness Month) the
Annual Vaidik Bhajanaavali and Veda Yajya is held at the Central Vaidik Mandir to
culminate all activities for the month of celebrations. At this function, representatives all across the country congregate in the Capital City, Georgetown, to make various presentations which include Bhajans in Honour of Arya Samaj and Maharishi Swami Dayanand, Chantings from Various Scriptures (Ramayana, Satyartha Prakash etc.), Short Dramas, Poetry etc.
The concept of Vaidik Bhajanaavali began in 1998 as an Annual Aryan Youth Bhajan Singing Competition and ran for three years after which the competitive aspect of the event was shelved. Since then, most temples look forward to sending their best singers to the event.
The Guyana Central Arya Samaj also gives out awards and commendations at the Vaidik Bhajanaavali function. The National Arya Samaj Award and the GCAS Pharmacy Award are given out annually. Other Special Awards and Commendations are sometimes given out. Go to the next section in our Activities Menu to learn more about these awards.
