Major Activities of the Guyana Central Arya Samaj

The Annual National Arya Samaj Award is presented to an outstanding Arya Samajist in recognition of outstanding lifelong service to the ideals and vision of the Arya Samaj in Guyana. The award is generally given out at the Vaidik Bhajaanavali function that marks the culmination of Arya Samaj Awareness Month. Since the award was initiated in 2000, the following National Arya Samaj Awardees have been honoured:
    2000 - Late Acharya Pt. Budhram Mahadeo (No.64 Vill, Berbice)
    2001 - Late Pandit Gopal Das (Cotton Field, Essequibo)
    2002 - Pandit Ramlall (NY, USA - formerly Skeldon, Berbice)
            - Pandit Birbal (FL, USA - formerly Georgetown)
    2003 - Pandit Kirpaul (Black Bush Polder, Berbice)
            - Mataji Eshwarie (No. 2 Village, Canjie, Berbice)
    2004 - Pandit Loknauth (Canal No. 1, West Demerara)
    2005 - Pandit Durga Persaud (Skeldon, Berbice)
Special Awards

2004 - Pandit Jai Naraine (Georgetown - formerly Golden Fleece, Essequibo) In honour of his many years of committment and dedication to the service of Arya Samaj in Guyana. Pandit Jai Naraine is a true Arya Veer of exemplary conduct and dedication towards the propagation of the teachings of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati.
2005 - Pitaji David Budhoo (Georgetown - formerly Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice) In honour of his many years of committment and dedication to the Guyana Central Arya Samaj. Pitaji David Budhoo has been the caretaker of the Central Vaidik Mandir ever since it was constructed.
2006 - 50th Anniversary of Arya Vir Dal in Guyana Awards. In honour of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of Arya Vir Dal in Guyana, the Guyana Central Arya Samaj honoured the three individuals who have made tremendous impact in the lives of Arya Samaj Youth in Guyana. They were recognised for their outstanding contributions made towards the development of Arya Vir Dal Movement in Guyana. They are Swami Veda Bharati (formerly Pt. Usharbodh Arya, Pt. Ramlall and Dr. Satish Prakash. Please see the 50th Anniversary Page for further details.


The GCAS Pharmacy Award - This is the second award given out at the Vaidik Bhajanaavali Event. This annual award is presented to the Best Graduating Student in Pharmacy at the University of Guyana and has been instituted since the mid 1980s. On some ocassions in the past, this award was presented the Annual General Meetings.
